This is a beginner’s course in Chinese appropriate for learners with little or no background in Chinese. Volume 2 has a total of ten lessons (the specific lesson titles are in the right hand column). In this volume, students are introduced to the pinyin system for writing Chinese using the Roman alphabet, the Chinese character-writing system, and basic Chinese grammar. In addition, students learn the basic principles of Chinese character composition and pronunciation with special emphasis on tones. This volume contains a broad range of activities that develop and solidify the student's listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar skills.
